What you need to do
Take your dog out into an empty playscene (no distractions, other dogz, toys etc) Pic up your dog, and hold it until it turns to face right. Right sided poses are preferred to left with dogz and also look better Smile Your dogz feet should be pretty aligned so they almost look like one. Start taking pictures. Your dog will probably be startled by the camera at first, but will get used to it with practice. Read on to see examples of dali and dane poses.

Dali Pose

With dali poses, you've got to keep clicking the camera until the dog turns to face you with a serious but relaxed look on its face. Its chest should be puffed out as shown in the pictures. The tail should be nicely curled over the dogz back as shown, unless the dog has a drop tail, therefore, it's not possible Laughing

Dane Pose

With dane poses, again, keep clicking the camera until the dog puffs out its chest and holds his head as shown. With dane poses, only one eye should be showing. Legs should be aligned as much as possible. If the dog's tail is like a dali's for example, it should curl round the back.

Hope that helped you in some way ^_^

Dog alignment is not judged like cats. When cats pose the put their front paws together, so the furthest paw usually isn't seen. When dogs pose the furthes paw is seen, but leg should be the judged part.

Posing Dogz is hard! I thought the chest had to be puffed out?

^Please don't double post :]

For a sheepie, it doesn't matter if it's bobtailed; you don't necessarily have to watch the tail to see the dog posing.

Are you posing an OB sheepie or a downloaded hexed breed sheepdog?

I ain't very experienced... and quite frankly I haven't shown my dogz yet. xD

But that dog is just standing there, I'm pretty certain. Lids. The lids aren't like the ones shown. Apparently on another forum Neco said that the one simple give away sign a dog is posing is the eyelids. They should be sad, but otherwise at the same angle. Those are uneven and the dogs chest isn't how it is in posing. The neck should also be elongated, unless I am barking up the wrong tree.
This is a great thread, tho. Smile I always had trouble with my dogz because the of their legs look aligned, but the bottom/top doesn't... so I had no idea what to until this popped up! Very Happy

It looks to me as if the dog is in betwen a pose and standing, which doesn't count as a true pose.

Next time you want to know about your own dog's pose though, please create your own thread where people can give critique that way. Instead of lengthening an already long thread.
